The Suburban Swing Orchestra is a 17 piece big band, operating out of the Oldham area of Greater Manchester. Many ensembles in the swing idiom specialise in one particular area, whereas the SSO can do it all! The book contains a plethora of charts making the SSO suitable for any engagement. Not only can they provide the perfect Glenn Miller night, they can swing like Count Basie, cook like Duke Ellington and when need be, roar like Stan Kenton. Both male and female vocalists are used which enables them to achieve a splendid and proportionate balance of material (Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darrin, Dean Martin, Billie Holliday, Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone etc..).
